  Ahhh… anime. Well I cannot really answer your queston right here but you might want to talk to some people about certain animes and stuff infact im an anime fan myself and i can tell you how an anime is, and even manga.   I really recomend Dogs:bullets and Carnage it was released by viz media in the united states
  here is a summary

  If you want a DVD, you can never go wrong with…

  Mangas… well it depends on your genre.

  If you like action, I would recommend Cowboy Bebop, Trigun or Evangelion.

  Fantasy, it’s better to go with Vampire Night, Hell Teacher Nube, X-1999, or Flame of Recca.

  Romance/Ecchi: better go with works by Yuu Watase and Mayu Shinjo (ecchi)

  Comedy: hands down, LEGAL DRUG (clamp)

  You would be okay picking up any of the movies that Hayao Miyazaki has worked on. Most of them have been translated by now.
