Every year it’s the same issue, I never know what to get him. He plays games (mostly computer), he loves anime, and Japanese culture in general. I would like it to be something original. I have about $150 to spend. It doesn’t have to be 1 big present, it could be a couple of smaller ones. Any tips appreciated ! Thank you !

Okay, first off: what´re his favourite animes? ´cause you could buy him a couple of mangas of the series or even some dvds. =) You could try with action figures too, or mechas, if he likes them.
You said he likes Japanese culture too, so maybe you could also take him out to dinner to some Japanese restaurant ^^ Or, if there isn´t enough money, maybe you could buy him sake! xD It´s a Japanese alcoholic drink =P
I was also thinking maybe you could look for some Japanese clothes… They may cost a bit more than what you´ve got though.. And, I also thought you could buy him shurikens (ninja stars), nunchakus or even a katana (Japanese blade) or a bokken! (it´s a wood sword) Those may be expensive too, but they are just ideas..

So first you need to do a little reasearch,
what types of anime he likes?
Computer gamers LOVE video cards, just find out which video card is he using, and if you can upgrade, this will be a great gift, video cards cost about 150 for a mid range video card, and computer gaming geeks like myself love them.
If not but him a technological thing,
